Course 3 · Secure it.

Protect the APIs, SaaS, and AI features you ship.

A practical, defensive course: build a threat model, harden authentication and APIs, manage secrets, verify webhooks, secure uploads, harden containers, and reduce AI-application risks — all through safe, authorized, local labs.

10Modules
61Lessons
10Safe local labs

Outcomes

What you'll be able to do

Model the threat

Inventory assets, draw trust boundaries, and rank risks by likelihood and impact.

Harden access

Secure authentication, sessions, and authorization — and fix broken object-level access.

Defend the boundary

Validate inputs, encode output, and harden APIs against injection and abuse.

Protect data

Manage secrets, minimize PII, and secure storage and file uploads.

Secure integrations

Verify webhooks, handle payments safely, and limit third-party and SSRF risk.

Secure AI features

Reduce prompt injection, data exposure, and excessive tool permissions.

Curriculum

Ten modules, one security review

Tap any module to expand it. Every lab runs locally, in a disposable, deliberately vulnerable app.

1. Security mindset, scope, ethics, and threat modeling
The defensive mindset; rules of engagement; assets and trust boundaries; threat modeling and risk prioritization; the local lab setup.
2. Identity, authentication, authorization, and session security
AuthN vs AuthZ; password storage; session and cookie hardening; BOLA/IDOR and least privilege; MFA and recovery; a broken-access-control lab.
3. Input validation, output encoding, and API security
Trust boundaries; injection and parameterized queries; XSS and encoding; API authorization and rate limiting; CORS/CSRF; a validation/XSS lab.
4. Data protection, secrets, privacy, and secure storage
Secrets management and rotation; encryption in transit/at rest; PII minimization and retention; secure file storage; secret-leakage and data-exposure labs.
5. Webhooks, payments, uploads, and third-party integrations
Webhook verification and idempotency; payment security (test mode); safe uploads; integration risk; SSRF prevention; an unsigned-webhook/unsafe-upload lab.
6. Container, server, Nginx, and deployment hardening
Non-root containers and minimal images; server hardening; Nginx headers and method restriction; TLS; a weak-Docker/missing-headers lab.
7. AI application security and data-governance risks
AI threat model; prompt injection (direct/indirect); sensitive-data exposure; excessive agency and tool permissions; output validation; human approval; a prompt-injection lab.
8. Secure SDLC, dependency scanning, and CI/CD
Security left; dependency/supply-chain risk; secret scanning and static analysis; container/IaC scanning; useful gates and triage; a dependency/secret lab.
9. Logging, monitoring, backups, and incident response
What to log (and never log); monitoring and alerting; backups and recovery; an incident runbook; communication and post-mortems; an abuse-detection lab.
10. Capstone security review and maintenance program
Scope the review; asset inventory and data-flow diagram; prioritized remediation; risk register and executive summary; a maintenance and annual threat-review program.

Questions

FAQ

Is this an ethical, defensive course?

Yes. All demonstrations run in local, disposable, deliberately vulnerable applications you are authorized to test. It teaches risk reduction, never unauthorized access.

Do I need security tools or prior experience?

No. You need Docker and a browser; every lab runs locally. The course assumes web fundamentals and teaches security step by step.

Does this cover AI-specific security?

Yes — prompt injection, sensitive-data exposure, excessive tool permissions, output validation, data governance, and human approval for high-impact actions.

Will my app become unhackable?

No. Security is a risk-reduction process. The course helps you find and fix common risks and establish a repeatable review and response process.

Does it cover compliance certification?

No. It aligns with OWASP-style concepts and privacy practices but does not provide legal advice or certify compliance.
